In 2009, Yang Kaihui was elected as one of the "100 Heroes and Models Who Made Outstanding Contributions to the founding of New China".

Yang Kaihui was born in Bancang, Qingtai Township, Changsha County, Hunan Province in 1901 (now Kaihui Village, Kaihui Town). His father, Yang Changji, was a progressive scholar and educator. In 1913, Yang Changji went to teach at the No. 1 Normal University in Hunan Province, and Yang Kaihui moved to Changsha with his father, where he met Mao Zedong.

In 1918, Yang Changji went to teach at Peking University and moved his family north. In September of this year, Mao Zedong also came to Beijing to organize a work-study program in France. During this period, Mao Zedong and Yang Kaihui had more contact and began to fall in love.

In the winter of 1920, Yang Kaihui joined the Chinese Socialist Youth League and became the first group of members in Hunan. At this time, she and Mao Zedong held a simple wedding in Changsha and became revolutionary partners.

In 1922, Yang Kaihui joined the Communist Party of China. In the same year, Mao Zedong established the Hunan District Committee of the Communist Party of China in Hunan and served as the secretary of the district committee. Yang Kaihui was responsible for the confidential and transportation liaison work of the district committee. right-hand man.

In April 1923, Mao Zedong went to the Shanghai Party Central Committee to work. Yang Kaihui brought Mao Anying and Mao Anqing to Shanghai to assist Mao Zedong in his work.

In February 1925, Yang Kaihui returned to Shaoshan with Mao Zedong to carry out the peasant movement, assisting Mao Zedong in establishing a peasant night school and serving as a teacher. In December of the same year, Yang Kaihui left Shaoshan and went to Guangzhou to assist Mao Zedong in collecting and arranging materials, writing manuscripts, and being responsible for liaison work.

In early 1927, when Mao Zedong inspected the peasant movement in Hunan, Yang Kaihui sorted out a large amount of investigation data and copied them down neatly.

After the failure of the Great Revolution, Mao Zedong led the Hunan-Jiangxi Border Autumn Harvest Uprising in accordance with the instructions of the Party's August 7th meeting. Yang Kaihui returned to Bancang, Changsha with three children to start an underground struggle.

In October 1930, Yang Kaihui was arrested. The enemy pressed Mao Zedong's whereabouts and asked her to publicly announce that she had separated from her husband and wife relationship with Mao Zedong. Yang Kaihui said firmly, "Sacrificing me is small, succeeding is big" "I want Mao Zedong and I to break away from the relationship between husband and wife, unless the sea is dead!"

On November 14, 1930, Yang Kaihui died at the Literacy Ridge outside Liuyangmen, Changsha, at the age of 29.

In Wangguanqiao Village, Moshi Town, Shimen County, Hunan Province, the former residence of Martyr Wang Erzhuo watches over this red land among the green mountains and green waters.

Wang Erzhuo, born in 1903, is a native of Shimen County, Hunan Province. In 1920, he was admitted to Changsha Provincial Class A Industrial School. In 1924, Wang Erzhuo was admitted to the first phase of the Whampoa Military Academy and joined the Communist Party of China in the autumn of the same year. After graduation, he served as the student team leader and battalion commander, and participated in the two east expeditions to quell the Guangzhou business group rebellion and crusade against the warlord Chen Jiongming.

In 1926, Wang Erzhuo participated in the reorganization of the 3rd Division of the National Revolutionary Army, served as the party representative of the East Road Advance Army, and participated in the Northern Expedition. He later served as the representative of the 26th Regiment of the 3rd Army of the National Revolutionary Army.

In 1927, Wang Erzhuo was appointed chief of staff of the 74th Regiment of the 25th Division of the Fourth Army of the National Revolutionary Army. In August of the same year, he led the regiment's heavy machine gun company to participate in the Nanchang Uprising. After the uprising, he served as the head of the 74th regiment and went south with the troops to Guangdong. At the end of October, the rest of the Nanchang Uprising Army was reorganized into a column, with Wang Erzhuo as chief of staff, and Zhu De, Chen Yi and others led the troops to the borders of Fujian, Guangdong, Jiangxi and Hunan, and insisted on armed struggle. In January 1928, he participated in leading the uprising in southern Hunan and served as chief of staff of the 1st Division of the Workers' and Peasants' Revolutionary Army.

In April 1928, after Zhu De and Mao Zedong's troops joined forces in Jinggangshan, Wang Erzhuo served as chief of staff of the 4th Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army and head of the 28th regiment. He assisted Mao Zedong and Zhu De to command the Red 4th Army to win the battles at Wudoujiang, Caoshi'ao, Longyuankou, etc., and smashed the second, third and fourth large-scale "advance and suppression" launched by the Kuomintang army. Wang Erzhuo led the 28 regiments to fight heroically and became a member of the Jinggangshan vertical and horizontal, and made great contributions to the defense and development of the Jinggangshan Revolutionary Base. On August 25 of the same year, he died heroically when he was chasing traitors at Sishun Ruins in Chongyi, Jiangxi, at the age of 25.

At the memorial service for Wang Erzhuo, Mao Zedong and Zhu De spoke highly of his contribution to the revolution. An elegiac couplet, drafted by Mao Zedong and written by Chen Yi, hung on the venue: "One weeps for Erzhuo, and the second weeps for Erzhuo, now Erzhuo is gone! Who will bear the heavy responsibility of staying? Born as a class, died as a class, what happens after class? Victory? Beginning to rest!"
